QUALITY PROMISE

Before commencing any research, Kinnections will ensure that your requirements have been fully understood.


Research timescales will be advised in advance depending on the package you choose.  To keep you informed regular updates on the progress of your research will be emailed to you.


Research will be conducted as far as possible from documented sources. However original documents may need to be purchased in order for the research to continue. If this is necessary, we will contact you to obtain permission prior to the ordering of any certificates, as this will incur an extra cost. Look at the packages tab on website for full details of pricing for packages.


Kinnections endeavour to be as accurate as possible. However you must be made aware that Government records are only as good as the people who wrote them.   In many cases  inaccuracies due to human error have arisen due to the misspelling of names and even age dates shown in the census forms. This can be misleading, but we endeavour with the help of other data, to combat this and determine the true historical path of your ancestors. If you were to find an inaccuracy then we will rectify this immediately without cost.  


CONFIDENTIALITY AND PRIVACY POLICY

The nature of this research means that we need you to provide us with personal information.  We understand the importance of maintaining the privacy of your information and to this end we adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998.  We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office, registration number Z3231680. Your information will not be passed on to any third party. We will treat all your information with complete confidentiality.


LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our website may contain links to enable you to visit other websites of interest easily. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.


REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

Preliminary searches will be produced on your family names, to ensure further research is possible. If research cannot proceed to the extent originally anticipated, the reasons for this will be explained to you and a straight  fee of £50 only will be kept to cover the initial research time. Any findings made will be given to you along with a refund of the package price (excluding the initial research fee.)  


As mentioned on the package page we require a 50% deposit from the package price prior to us starting your family tree. The balance will need to paid once we have emailed you to say we have finished the project prior to us posting it to you. If you require cancellation, we are unable to refund any money for the starter package, however we will be able to stop the Main and Banquet package and just invoice you for the hours of work already produced.

Privacy

The privacy notice explains the type of data we may collect about you.  It also explains how Kinnections will store and handle that data and keep it safe.

The law on data protections sets out a number of different reasons for which a company may collect and process your personal data.

 

Contractual Obligations.

1 To carry out inititial research we will ask you for your name, address, telephone number and email address to enable us to comumunicate with you and supply you with the goods and services we supply.

 

2 Information which we will initially need to collect will include details of your family such as dates of birth, marriage and,if applicable, death.  If any information is regarding living ancestors such as parents, grandparents etc.  it will be deemed to be your responsibility to ensure they have consented to this being provided.

 

Legal Compliance

If the law requires us to we may need to provide data to the police where evidence or fraud or other criminal activity affecting Kinnections occurs.

 

Legitimate interest.

In specific situations we will require your information to perform our service for which you have employed us such as

 

Redeeming gift vouchers from Kinnections,

Purchasing a product on phone or on line

When you fill in our questionnaire

When you comment on or review our products and services

 

Data sharing

When you commission Kinnections to to carry out research for you we will only sent the documents to you.  In cases where you are making a purchase on behalf of another person, i.e. a gift vouchers then we will only conmmunicate and send the documents to that person.  


We will never pass or sell your data to third parties.

With your permission we will publish any testimonials you may wish to make.  This will be removed upon request at any time.

 

Retaining your data

We will treat your data with the utmost care and take all reasonable steps to protect it.  The data will be retained until the project is completed .  Unless requested otherwise will be retained for a period of 5 years at which time unless requested otherwise it will be deleted.

 

The GDPR provides the following rights:

Access to the personal data we hold on you.  

Any correction of any data when incorrect, incomplete or out of date.

Erasure, restriction or suppression of all your personal data that we hold.

Your personal data to abtain or reuse for your own purposes

That we stop using your personal data for reasons connected to your personal situation

That we stop using your personal data for direct marketing though all channels or selected channels.
